Does my baby have T-Rex arms?!

I cant be the only one thinking this! In fact, its something that kind of took over my thoughts every time i changed our baby's clothes. I just had to investigate a little further and started comparing sleepsuits and talking to other mums... Toby didn't look out of proportion, but every item of clothing had super long arms/sleeves i had to roll up a few times. I then started noticing the size difference between brands and i continued to get frustrated, lining up sleep suits next to each other to check I wasn't going crazy. Below, is what I found out.
Firstly, my baby has relatively average arms and is not in fact a T-Rex! However, the arms on sleepsuits, long sleeve tops, jumpers, cardigans, etc. are all just really long. I still have no idea why, other than clothing companies simply have no idea when it comes to babies arms or they are secretly making those sleeves extra easy for babies to chew and dribble on. Be prepared to roll the sleeves on almost everything for at least the first 6 months.
Secondly, baby clothing sizes vary depending on where you shop... just like adult clothes. And it is equally frustrating. However, most tend to run a little big so gives growing room. But what I did find interesting was the difference between unisex and boy/girl specific clothing. All the sleepsuits we bought in white/unisex were considerably smaller than the boy specific ones, and in comparison all girls sleepsuits were smaller than the unisex ones. While the weight difference between boys and girls as new borns is minor it would seem clothes rarely reflect this. So if you are looking to save some cash and make those outfits last longer, then buy boy specific for boy babies and unisex for girls! Who would have thought it!
Thirdly and finally.... your baby will grow so quick in the first 3 months. Just make sure they are comfortable and warm enough. Better to have the sleepsuits a little too big than on the tight side and squishing those gorgeous little toes.
